Honest Elections Seattle is a coalition of individuals and community organizations working together to encourage a more diverse pool of candidates for elected office and ensure everyone has the opportunity to have his or her voice heard, not just the wealthy and political elite.

In 2015, Seattle voters approved Initiative 122, a reform proposal to give voters real control of the election process and get big money out of politics in Seattle. New lobbying, disclosure, and enforcement measures in this initiative give a real voice to regular people and hold elected leaders accountable to us, the voters. The initiative also included an innovative “Democracy Voucher” public financing system for all city offices – including mayor, city attorney, and at-large and district city council persons to get big money out of politics. The Democracy Voucher program launched on January 3, 2017.
